d'Arenberg The Garden of Extraordinary Delights Shiraz 2010

Chester has a great ability to liven up a room as he has no trouble talking about himself in humorous manner and sometime in a self deprecating fashion. I have experienced this on multiple occasions and I have always walked away with extra knowledge and a little bounce in my step. He oozes passion for McLaren Vale in such a manner and transfers it over to his viewers.

This almost tastes like it is a mix between the Blind Tiger and Shipster's Rapture as it combines the expressive nose with a rich palate. Once again it has just been bottled so it should improve after it has had time to settle.  Like all of the other 2010s from d'Arenberg the structure of this wine is brilliant. The tannins are soft and chalky but they only provide mouth-feel and not flavour.  They also spread the flavours evenly over my tongue with a slow strut or swagger of personality that it makes me stand up and take notice. What is different about this beauty is a baked iron component that is mixed with gun smoke.  It is enchanting by themselves but you still get that fruit appeal that is common for wines from McLaren Vale in 2010. Which wine would I buy out of the just released single vineyard wines? I'm not sure as they are all of high quality but I think this wine combines beauty and richness beautifully.  This one tastes a little richer from the start to the finish while Shipster's is a little more restrained.
