Laughing Jack Moppa Block Shiraz 2008

Shawn Kalleske makes a small number of sub-regional wines that show off the vineyards in and around Greenock Creek. This is one of his best.

Laughing Jack Moppa Block Shiraz 2008

When Shiraz is done well it offers so much to the wine drinker. The wine has vibrancy and depth of flavour with a cuddliness that you don’t get from many other varieties. The palate length is tremendous as is the acidity that bouncers around in this wine like a belly dancer on the stage. The palate is tight with the flavours of dark chocolate, blackberry jam, vanilla icing and smoked hickory marching in unison from the start to the finish.  What this wine needs is time in a cool and dark cave to allow it to open up a bit more and when it does expect a world class wine with elegance and animation to show itself.
