Mount Mary Chardonnay 2009

Lilydale is situated right next to Coldstream which is where James Halliday first planted his Pinot Noir Vineyard.  It turns out that Lilydale is a suburb of Melbourne and is the main gateway to the Yarra Valley.  Those suburbs are getting further and further out now days.  As it turns out the region is renowned for its free range chickens which work perfectly with this little number.

Here is a recipe that would work brilliantly
Whole Chicken
30g Black truffle
Salt and Pepper
4 medium Leeks, 4 Carrots, 1 Turnip and 1 Celery stick
Flat parsley and Thyme Sprigs
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon thick cream

Rub chicken with salt and pepper. Insert sliced truffle between chicken skin and breast flesh. Place chicken in large pot with enough water to cover. Add remaining except butter and cream.  Bring to boil then simmer for 1 1/4 hours or until chicken juice runs clear.  Pull out vegetables and blend with butter and cream.  Serve chicken on puree.

It terms of quality there is not much difference between this and the Quintet.  It is seamless and long as the wine transitions across my palate.  Every component delivers its message before it moves on and the next part takes hold. You need a special occasion to open this wine so make something up to create that occasion. "hi honey it's Wednesday" sounds like something that could work.
