Romney Park Shiraz 2008

Romney Park's vineyard is managed by four guinea fowl who diligently clean up everything in amongst the vines.  I think it is a brilliant idea to use birds and/or sheep to manage your vineyard as it reduces the sprays that you may need to use to do the same job.

Romney Park Shiraz 2008

At the moment this vinous liquid is coiled up so tightly that it is difficult to score. Should i score it on how it will drink with 5 to 10 years under its belt or how it drinks now?  I'll score it on how it drinks now but read ahead understanding that it will improve significantly with time in the cellar.  Tannins sit under the flavours extending the length and pulling the flavour profile over every inch of your palate and while you have to love a spicy wine to love this, there is a hell of a lot to love.  Black pepper, smoke, liquorish, chocolate and black cherry round out a lovely little number. Leave it alone and it will be spectacular. This wine would pair perfectly with guinea fowl... i think i know where to find one.
