Stefano Lubiana Sasso Pinot Noir 2008

For the money Stefano makes some of the best Pinot Noir in the country in an elegant style. The Sasso is the best barrels of wine that he makes each year. The Sasso is one of the only Pinot Noirs in Australia that needs  a longer sleep in hte cellar to show what it is truly made of.

At this stage the oak is still playing a role on the nose but it seems like it is off in the distance. On the palate the flavours move up a drive with pungent notes of cherry pip, spice and a little under growth action. The erethral palate flows beautifully with the chalky tannin which drive up the middle of my mouth then they divide and conquer my tongue. Over the course of the time I spent tasting this the structure relaxed a bit and showed some perfumed notes which left me feeling up lifted. Don't drink it now!
