This was the first year that I worked at the sea and vines so I was not sure to expect. Three o’clock must be the witching hour as four very drunk women tried to have their way with me which got me thinking about what wine to open when I get home. I thought, something to celebrate the festivities, something seductive yet cheap enough that anyone can get their hands on it. Perfect to mark the occasion!
Jean-Marc Burgaud Chateau De Thulon Beaujolias Villages 2009
Straight out of the bottle this sings about earth, mushrooms, crushed quartz, star anise and red fruits. Some people would find this too light in style but its does bring a huge amount to the table. There is a light and fluffy tannin structure that commando rolls over your tongue.
