Both of Michael's Shiraz wines are brilliantly constructed but his Barossa version is a little more open and easier to understand. I personally would buy the Eden valley wine to cellar over this version but that is more a statement of style not quality.
Michael Hall Shiraz 2009
Oh baby baby this is a wild world! As will all of Michael's wines they are focused and reserved but it is the bright acidity that is refreshing and inviting that sets this above a lot of others from this category. The length is to die for!!! If you nailed me down for flavours I would say blueberries, blackberry mud-cake mixed with ironstone, gunpowder and dark chocolate. The wine is just full bodied and balances savoury and sweet flavours brilliantly.
