Spinifex Bete Noir 2009

One of the most exciting developments in the Barossa in recent times.

Spinifex Bete Noir 2009

When I first opened the bottle I was a little worried as a burst of liquored blackberry jumped out at me but this quickly melded into the wine.  What emerged was a huge Indian spice aroma, as if I was making a curry, with vanilla, plums, home cooked strawberry jam and crushed quartz joining the fro.  It is the acidity that lifts this to a new height as it turns up the juiciness factor. This takes Barossa Shiraz in a totally different direction! I love it. It all ends with a hint of floral beetroot and an empty bottle.
