Torbreck The Factor 2007

A few years ago the 99 version was my Shiraz of the year (95pts) but due to the price and my student wage, I haven't tried one of these in a while.  The 2007 vintage was no the best year for the Barossa due to the continual drought.  So how did David Powell handle it?

Torbreck The Factor 2007

As with all the Torbeck wines this is silky and smooth but the oak is definitely playing a prominent role in its construction.  There are flavours of prunes, currants, leather and boiled blackberries indicating that this has suffered in the heat.  While there is a mild tannin structure lurking underneath the wine finishes rather flat.  I would drink this while the fruit is holding.
