Rockford Hoffman SVS 2003

The SVS or single vintage series can be considered the icing on the cake for the Stonewaller club members.  You have to be a serious customer to get your name put forth when a spot opens up.  As Rockford's supports the people that have supported them, they release unique wines to this group when they feel that they are ready.

At this stage the wine is dominated by oak but you can see dark blackberries, crushed ants and caramel underneath.  The fruit is a little too ripe this year with flavours of currants coming into play but for an 03 it is looking good.  The wine is thick texturally and compared to last years version isn't as fresh or exciting.
